About Mitch

Mitchell G. Styers has been a trusted member of the Banzet, Thompson, Styers & May family since 2002, bringing with him a distinguished background that has shaped him into one of Warren County’s most respected attorneys. Before entering private practice, Mitch served as an Assistant District Attorney in North Carolina’s Ninth Judicial District, prosecuting cases for the elected District Attorney David Waters. He also had the privilege of serving as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Burley B. Mitchell, Jr. (Ret.), Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court — an experience that gave him a deep appreciation for the rigorous standards of the law and the importance of careful, principled advocacy.

Today, Mitch concentrates his practice in state and federal criminal defense, federal criminal appeals, family law, and estate matters. His clients benefit from the rare combination of prosecutorial experience and skilled defense work — he understands how cases are built by the government, and he knows exactly how to challenge them.

Mitch received his B.A. from North Carolina State University in 1992. He was licensed to practice in North Carolina in August 1997. He was admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina in September 1997. He was admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in June 2006. He was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in July 2008.
